No problem when you need to use the obd port just pull out the adapter and plug in the scanner. You will not be taxing the power of the OBD port, which is meant to supply up to 4 amps even the dual dashcams spec out at 2 amps or below. I see the ODB port as a great and easy hook up for dash cams.

The OBD2 power adapter will not automatically switch your DC to parking mode, it will just keep running as if you were driving. The g-sensor should still lock a file if you were hit but it probably uses more power. It also may run your battery down completely if you left it sitting for days.

See the "Parking Mode Conditions" in my list. The answers to #2 & #3 are yes and yes. The IROAD OBD-II power adapter only has two pins 4 (ground) and 16 (power). There's no monitoring of any of the vehicle's various data busses present in the data link connector.
